So, playing with these rainbow filters I’ve made is kind of my new favorite thing! It’s been pure fun and experimentation for me and I’m super grateful to have found a new way to play when it comes to photography.
I’m heading to Arizona next month and have been looking forward to bringing my camera and photographing one of my absolute favorite places in a new way. It’s also almost always sunny there that would be great for the filters/throwing rainbows all over the place.
The filters I’ve made have these tiny sequins and broken cds sandwiched between them but I’m looking into if I can kind other fun scraps to create some new ones to bring.
I’m currently using them to photograph clouds, water, and birds in flight—mostly anything that involves looking up. I’ve found it really calming, and I think most people feel the same way about looking up at the sky.
The way the filters cast light across my lens is always different every time I head out. I hope you’ve enjoyed this as much as I’ve enjoyed making them!
